Village residents enjoy a weekend of grape picking…

During the south west grape picking season, Margaret River Lifestyle Village residents Allen and Sheila Hull, Philippa Morris, Jenny Stolk and Village Director, Adan Nicholson and his wife Suzy enjoyed a weekend of grape picking at local winery on Caves Road.

Italian grape growers Dino Tuia who were born and raised in Margaret River helped the residents and village managers pick the grapes and prepare them for their first drop.

“It was such a great day. Very traditional style farming and Italian heritage Dino Tuia and his family brought out a huge family spread including Aunties famous pork sausages  which they also make at the winery. We all got wet and dirty, picked the grapes and just enjoyed the outdoors and what this region is famous for!”

A local wine maker is working with the village residents to de-stem the shiraz grape and show them how to make the wine.

“We had a ball. And we are so excited to be making our first batch of shiraz since moving into the village last year.” Said Allen Hull, Margaret River Lifestyle Village resident

“And the grapes, they were like these beautiful small and sweet morsels, absolutely delicious.” Commented Adan Nicholson Village Director.

Residents are continuing the process of making the wine and storing it at the village in the workshop, which has been built for the residents to use for all sorts of things including brewing beer, making wine, woodwork, arts and crafts.
